Description

Pablo Servigne's book "L'Entraide" provided the inspiration for the Budapest Dance Theatre's new production, "Goodbye in the Air!". According to the laws of nature, living organisms compete with each other for survival, but according to the sociologist, there is another rule to be found: collaboration. He demonstrates with numerous examples that the living world is hardwired for cooperation, not competition, in extreme circumstances. The Budapest Dance Theatre's creation embodies this cooperation, highlighting it as a counterpoint to the competitive outlook on life that pervades our modern society. This cooperation allows us to transcend the limitations of our ego in extreme circumstances and overcome the selfishness born of our fears. Is it a Utopian idea to place the interests of the community above the individual?
