Nutcracker
Throughout our culture, across Europe, the Nutcracker is associated with the coming of light, the celebration of love, Christmas. Families and children have filled theatres for generations. When the curtain rises and Tchaikovsky's wonderful music takes the stage, it is a tale of a little girl's dream and the adventure of Prince Nutcracker, a story of good and evil, and of love triumphing at the end of the adventure. In our story, the characters meet again in the warmth of home and the sin of the Mouse King is forgiven, ending in a happy finale that year after year reminds us that goodness and love are the most important values in human life. Since 2004, Budapest Dance Theatre has presented the play in many successful performances in Budapest and in the countryside. It has been a great success in Italy. The special situation of everyday life has inspired us to perform the play in our studio theatre this year. Theatres are closing in the face of the economic situation, but we are not letting the difficulties obscure the light of Christmas.
