Aurevoir en l’air!

Aurevoir en l’air!

Description

The inspiration for Budapest Dance Theatre's new production, See you in the air!, comes from Pablo Servigne's book L'Entraide. According to the law of nature, living things compete with each other to survive, but the sociologist believes that there is another rule, namely collaboration. He gives a number of examples to show that in extreme conditions, the living world is wired to work together, not to compete. In the creation of the Budapest Dance Theatre, he focuses on collaboration as the antithesis of the competitive approach to life that pervades our society today. It is a collaboration that allows us to transcend ego boundaries and overcome our fears and selfishness in extreme circumstances. Is it utopian to put the interests of the community above the individual?

Through extreme situations, the ensemble draws attention to the interdependence of people, the catalytic effect of cooperation, and the trust without which we are paralysed in the face of challenges. Individuals alone cannot accomplish what they can accomplish together. We are not alone capable of the flight that has so long preoccupied mankind, but with our companions by our side, or rather beneath us, we can float, even in the face of physical laws.
